Question:Speaking about events, why does the New Lamplight get involved in motor racing events, water sports etc?
Answer:We feel we need to be where young people are and by being at these events we are demonstrating that we have the support and goodwill of such corporates as Bombardier, Sea-Doo etc. It is important for us to be at these events to help raise awareness; raise friends and raise funds.
Question:Does the New Lamplight charge a fee for their presentations in schools?
Answer:Yes, like everyone else we have bills to pay. We do not want money to become an obstacle to the help we can give but we do expect organizers to do their best to work with us on ensuring our costs are covered.
Question:Who responds to the emails on the help line?
Answer:We have a growing team of facilitators some of whom are professionals with social work and other qualifications. Others are people with an equivalent mix of life skills and experience who are able to extend help and insight to teens in crisis.
Question:What safeguards are there to ensure that no predators slip through the net and end up in direct communication with vulnerable teens?
Answer:Our volunteers and staff are police checked and have to submit to regular reviews and appropriate screening as circumstances arise.
